Park City Powder Cats operates just minutes away from Park City at the privately owned Thousand Peaks Ranch. The Uinta Mountains is the largest range in North America that runs East and West. The weather patterns always seem to fill our 42,000 acres of incredible terrain with fresh Utah powder. We average 8-10 runs each day on our Snowcat skiing tours, depending on snow conditions and group ability. Runs are in beautiful open bowls, gladed trees, and chutes.

The advantage of snowcat skiing is that on inclement days we can still operate, and on these special days we get some of our deepest powder skiing. With the Unita Mountains averaging 400″ of snow every year and temperatures usually a moderate 20-30 F we have an abundance of bright, sunny bluebird days.

Capitol Reef Backcountry Outfitters - Utah

Listed in: Fly Fishing, Horseback Guides, Jeep Tours, Mountain Biking Guides

Capitol Reef Backcountry Outfitters offers the full gamut of adventure tours for the avid outdoorsman and backcountry traveler alike. Whether you like to ride your mountain bike, fly fish, ride horseback or simply push the petal to the metal in a Jeep, Capitol Reef Backcountry Outfitters can get you dialed in with the right equipment and expert guides to ensure a successful trip.

Check out a little more about the services offered by this Utah outfitter:

Mountain Bike Trips

Utah’s undeveloped dirt roads and trail systems take you from canyon rim to creek bottom, winding through a landscape that defines “GRAND SCALE”. Biking in the Canyonlands Region is the perfect vacation for the “life is short, play hard” human, who is not interested in merely spectating.

Horsback and Pack Trips

For the early settlers, travel into the labyrinth of the Canyonlands Region was often on horse back. Today we enjoy the same benefit of this timeless form of exploration on these versatile animals. To enhance your experience we take you out in small groups to some of our favorite places on trail systems that have existed for centuries.

Our experienced guides offer their insight and expertise on geology, archeology and local history. We offer a variety of trips from hourly to overnight pack trips. We accept riders from age 6 to 106 provided they are physically able to ride. We may let the little buckaroo ride a horse on a lead rope (led by the guide) if they are unable to control their own horse.

Fly Fishing

The fishing in Capitol Reef is something of an anomaly. To the casual observer, familiar with other high-desert locations, there would seem to be little in the way of fishing here. Fortunately, we are quite lucky to have several mountains in the region over 10,000 feet in elevation. Cool clear creeks and lakes, borne of the late mountain snow provide ample run-off year round to sustain a number of fisheries.

These incredible high mountain lakes coupled with off the beaten path small stream fishing makes southern Utah a fly-fishing destination that you must experience. Capitol Reef Backcountry Outfitters has been fishing

Off-Road Adventures

The Canyonlands Region of the Colorado Plateau hosts a network of four-wheel drive trails. A majority of this network was created during the 40’s and 50’s. It was during this time that prospectors, hoping to strike it rich by locating uranium in the triassic layer, built roads to access potential uranium mines in canyonlands.

Terrain previously accessible only by foot or horse back could now be reached by those intrepid enough to travel these trails. Today we have the advantage of independent suspension and air conditioning making the journey safer and more enjoyable.

These jeep tours are perfect for those interested in photography, geology, archeology and history. Also ideal for families or those who want to see the land in comfort. We provide lunch, and expert guide and all of the supplies for a worry free adventure.
